Visa Requirements

Canada is looking forward to welcoming you! Every year, more than 35 million people visit Canada to enjoy the many opportunities our country has to offer.

Canada is one of the most welcoming and inclusive nations in the world

Citizens from the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Mexico, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Australia and others do not require
a visa to enter Canada. Citizens from such countries may wish to contact their Canadian consulate or embassy for information regarding the documentation they are required to carry.

Depending on where you live, and the reason for your visit, you will need to meet certain entry requirements. Visitors entering Canada must present a valid passport and, in certain cases, a visa.

If you plan to stay in Canada you will need a Temporary Resident Visa. For a complete listing of countries whose citizens require visas to enter Canada, visit

Entry rules for those flying to Canada have changed recently. Canada introduced a new entry requirement known as an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), for visa-exempt foreign nationals traveling to Canada by air. Exceptions include U.S.
citizens and travelers with a valid visa. Eligible travelers can apply online for an eTA. This new requirement has become mandatory and travelers will need an eTA before they can board their flight to Canada. To find out more, visit
